Introducing Inspired Education
The leading global group of premium schools, Inspired’s has over 85,000 students . Founded in 2013, Inspired currently operates in over 110 schools across 25 countries from New Zealand to Peru. The Inspired group is enjoying strong growth, pursuing an ambitious growth strategy of acquiring existing, high-calibre education providers alongside building new schools.
How Sempre became involved
After considering several service providers and alternative platforms, Inspired decided to engage Sempre Analytics to improve its IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) setup and performance. Mario had previously worked with Sempre and trusted their capabilities.
Following a successful trial run, Inspired brought Sempre onboard to provide a full suite of advisory, build, and deployment services, and ongoing managed services.
“We had multiple data sources, and accessing specific information, like the revenue for a particular school, was time-consuming,” Mario recalls. “Sempre streamlined our data processes, significantly reducing the time it takes to retrieve crucial information.”
What happened:
Rebuilding IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) and upgrading analytics capabilities
Sempre improved Inspired’s previous IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) models to better meet their business needs. They started by significantly developing the existing Planning Analytics financial dashboard to provide all the insights Inspired requires, in a user-friendly interface.
Next, Sempre worked with Inspired to develop a driver-based planning system for budgeting and forecasting. For example, ensuring teaching cost budgets are informed by accurate student numbers per grade.
Sempre also built dynamic scenario modelling for enrolment forecasting. “We interface our current enrolments from our enrolment dashboard on ISAMS (Specialist school Management information System), into TM1, laying the groundwork for extremely accurate forecasting,” explains Mario. “We have different academic years so we need dynamic forecasting to really reflect what’s happening.”
To support Inspired’s ambitious school-building portfolio, Sempre set up CapEx planning, management, and reporting through TM1. This pulls data from their cloud based enterprise resource planning solution, JDE and other sources to give Inspired both project-level and overall CapEx oversight. Sempre implemented a robust integration between Cognos Controller and TM1, reducing outages and improving system reliability and uptime.
Throughout the collaboration, Sempre has provided ongoing support, advice, and training, ensuring Inspired’s team is well-equipped to leverage the new systems.

Data-driven decision-making fuels Inspired’s expansion
Through Sempre’s expert TM1 reconfiguration and ongoing managed services, Inspired now have the reliable, timely data and analytics they need for strategic decision making to support their business growth ambitions. Mario explains:
“IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) is critical. All company decisions are based on it. Data that doesn’t come from TM1 doesn’t count.”
The enhanced TM1 platform has become the foundation for making all critical business decisions, from acquisitions to equity raises, fuelling Inspired’s rapid growth trajectory.
Inspired’s ability to generate fast, accurate data and analytics has been transformative. Inspired uses TM1 for everything from long-range planning to ad hoc reporting.
This capability has not only strengthened Inspired’s operational processes but also significantly reduced their reliance on manual processing.
