WHAT DO PEOPLE DO… WITH DATA?
Richard Scarry’s “What do people do all day?” was one of my absolute favourite books growing up. It sparked my early interest in how things work and what roles people play in our daily lives. A topic that continues to fire my curiosity and my interest in what people do and what people need to make their daily lives run more effectively.
So, what do I do all day?
I am the New Client Manager for Data and AI, here at Sempre Analytics. We deliver data solutions for our customers, from data management to deriving business intelligence from data and everything in between. Every day is a school day, and my curiosity and interest in learning how my customers use the data and analytics they capture to drive their business needs and strategic aims to improve never lessens.
Much of my initial conversations with businesses revolve around working out how to ensure that each person within that business, or each “data consumer” has access to the data they need when they need it. Data helps everyone make decisions backed by evidence. It helps companies operate more efficiently.
These discussions about data consumers, data assurance and how to deliver a complete view of their world through data, take me back to these simple books by Richard Scarry that described what individuals, businesses and homes needed to function, evolve and adapt to changing conditions.
Describing types of Data Consumers – Richard Scarry Busy People
- The Teenager – [+ not at all based on a real-life daughter] – she needs everything – she needs it now – she cannot wait- she also needs to anticipate what she may need tomorrow.
- The Parent(s) – They need stability, they need the facts, they need to know what’s coming and they need to plan in order to respond with agility.
- The Child – Super curious, they want to learn without boundaries, finding their own patterns and developing at their own pace without constraints.
- The Influencer – they need to be first, to generate [ai] content, to anticipate trends, to drive engagement and to educate.
Sustaining all the needs of this variety of data consumers, at the right time, in the right format, through the right channels, and personalised for their specific needs, is constant.
Data is the lifeblood of positive outcomes in business and across a variety of organisations. Like Richard Scarry books, plumbing the right pipes of data to fuel curiosity is what we do at Sempre Analytics. We partner with customers to discover the data solutions that work for them, either via an end-to-end solution, or simply by course-correcting and interoperating, to ensure data lineage and flow are simplified and that the data supplied is reliable, cohesive, traceable, and secure.

I help navigate the course. I take great pride in helping our clients to achieve the transformational changes their investment in data-driven technologies should deliver.
Whatever people do with their day, let’s make it simple and easy for them to access the information they need, so they can focus on making smart decisions for their ‘Busy People’. Our aim is always to ensure that our clients can continue to focus on what they all do best all day, be it retail sales, educating their students, making sound investments, building safe and secure homes, making, delivering, caring, creating, fuelling, growing or fixing.
